Kevin Collins, USPTA

Managing Partner, Director of Development

Kevin Collins grew up in San Angelo and was a member of Bentwood Country Club's inaugural junior tennis program that began in 1978. Kevin played high school tennis for Central High School and collegiate tennis at Odessa Jr. College and Texas Tech University and competed on the ATP pro tour in 1987. He was a member of 5.5 National Championship team in 2006. Kevin has been USPTA Certified for over 30 years, and has coached over 25 State Champions and produced 60+ college bound scholarship tennis players, that represented 36 different colleges. Kevin is the USTA Texas Section President and was awarded the 2020 USTPA Industry Excellence Award in Texas. He is also a member of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Board of Directors. Kevin has served as the Managing Partner and Director of Development for Bentwood Country Club since 2006. Kevin currently manages all club operations and the 800 plus home housing development, overseeing all aspects of residential and commercial real estate development at Bentwood. He is married to Kim, and has a two children, Kanton and Katy, both of whom attended Texas State.

 

Bryce Zak

GENERAL MANAGER / DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Bryce is born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. Bryce has played baseball most of his life at Central High School, Angelo State University, and with The Tampa Bay Rays Minor League system. Bryce has a Master’s degree in Coaching, Sport, Recreation, & Fitness Administration from Angelo State University. As the Clubhouse General Manager, Bryce manages the daily operations of the Club. Bryce keeps himself involved in the youth baseball programs within the San Angelo area. When he is not at the Club, Bryce enjoys spending time with his wife Lexi, daughters Addison & Berkeley, or enjoys time in the outdoors; Hunting and Fishing. 
 

  Kristi McCarter
ACCOUNTING / MEMBERSHIP
Kristi has been with Bentwood Country Club for over 30 years. Having began her time here in the Golf Shop, she has been a part of many different aspects of the club throughout the years. She is currently the Accounting/Membership Director and can be seen around the facility giving tours to prospective members, speaking with you on the phone as she takes your reservations and answers your questions about upcoming events and or monthly statements. She has spent most of her spare time traveling to the many sporting events for their three children, Kaitlyn, Collin and Morgan. She also enjoys camping and spending time with her grandchildren, Rhyker and Rhett.

 


Brad Fluitt, CGCS

Golf course superintendent

Growing up working on the grounds crew at a neighborhood country club, Brad Fluitt was destined to become a golf course superintendent. What was at first just a summer job for Brad, soon became a lifelong passion for the golf industry. To educate himself in this craft, Brad achieved certification through GCSAA. Only one in ten superintendents achieve the CGCS designation. During college Brad applied for an assistant’s position at BCC. He obtained and worked this position, for several years eventually becoming golf course superintendent. There he encountered a wealth of experience including tournament preparation, maintaining bentgrass and champion greens, and learning effective ways of managing and motivating staff. The Fluitt family currently resides in San Angelo as a family of three. Brad’s son, Canon, is a currently studying at Harding University majoring in Finance. Brad has been married to his wife Tammy for 25 years.

  John Kolls, PGA
DIRECTOR OF GOLF
 John joined the Bentwood Team in March of 2022.  He is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but most recently spent the last 17 years in North Carolina. John has been a leader in the club and hospitality industry for over 15 years and has spent his entire life around golf and club operations. As a Class A member of the PGA of America, John was recognized by Golf Digest as the 7th best teacher in North Carolina and is a certified club fitter. John spent most of his professional career at Duke University Golf Club in Durham where he served as both Assistant Golf Professional and Head Golf Professional. Most recently, he served as GM/Director of Golf at Stoney Creek Golf Club near Greensboro where he managed all aspects of the club’s operations. John is a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian University where he was a 4-year member of the golf team serving as captain his senior year. He earned first team all-conference honors while winning medalist in multiple events. John is married to Kara and they have two wonderful boys, Jack and Owen.  When away from the Club, John enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor recreation, and watching his favorite sport teams (Saints, LSU, Duke). 

 
Morgan Rogers
ASSISTANT GOLF PRO
Youngest of four sisters, Morgan grew up in Lampasas, Texas. After graduating high school in 2014, Morgan continued her education at Angelo State University where she earned her Bachelors in Kinesiology while playing collegiate golf. Once she graduated she went back and earned her Masters degree in Coaching Administration. Morgan was the Assistant for the Angelo State golf team and currently working on her PGA card to become a head professional.  
  Carson Collins
ASSISTANT GOLF PRO
Carson was born and raised in San Angelo and played high school golf for the Central Bobcats. After high school, Carson worked part time at Bentwood and continued to work on his golf game everyday. He says “I haven’t gone two days in row without a golf club in my hand since 2014.” Now an Assistant golf professional for the club he continues to better his game even more and most importantly, introduce the game to younger generations. Carson continues to learn and grow the game of golf for the Bentwood Community, and in the future become a head professional himself.

 

Courtney Nagel, USPTA, IPTPA

director of Tennis & Pickleball

Courtney grew up in the Bentwood Tennis Program under the instruction of Kevin Collins.  She was a top 5 ranked junior in Texas and nationally ranked throughout her junior career.  Courtney played college tennis at the University of New Mexico where she had one of the top 10 winning percentages in school history, was an Academic All-American, and was the NCAA Woman of the Year representing New Mexico in 2001.  Courtney came back to Bentwood after graduation and is now the Director of Tennis and an investor in Bentwood Country Club, her home-away-from-home.  She's married to fellow New Mexico Lobo ski racer, Eric Nagel.  They have two children, Rewk and Sidney, who are competitive junior tennis players already!

Allie Rike, USPTA

ASSISTANT TENNIS PRO & Pickleball Pro

Allie Rike, a San Angelo native, played tennis at Central High School and North Central Texas College. During her time at NCTC, Allie was an Academic All-American, a member of the two-time NJCAA Region V Championship team and two-time National qualifying team. She boasts of a #7 ITA National Ranking in Doubles and Top 50 in Singles. Allie has her USPTA Professional Teaching Certification & signed with the Selkirk Professional Pickleball Team. Allie is a recent graduate of The Master's University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Marketing. She loves meeting new people and is excited to bring her tennis skills and positive outlook to the courts at Bentwood!  Allie has taken an interest in pickleball and enjoys traveling for competition.  She is bringing her pickleball experience to Bentwood and growing our program!

  Valentina Penha
ASSISTANT TENNIS PRO & PICKLEBALL PRO
Valentina Gonzalez Ramirez Penha is from Colombia (she goes by Val) and recently graduated from her masters degree in Coaching in May 2023 from ASU. She played 5 years of college tennis at Angelo State University where was a collegiate Tennis Association Dll All-American 2019-2022 in singles and doubles, conference player of the year 2019, Collegiate Tennis Association Player to watch 2018-2019. Val was #1 in Colombia for eight years in a row where she represented Colombia five times and in the World Cup. Val excelled not only on the court but off the court as a honor roll student-athlete in 2020-2023. Val was a Graduate Assistant coach for the ASU women’s tennis team at ASU 2022-2023 and she helped the team make history by reaching the Conference final for the first time  and the first round of ITA Regionals. She recently got married to Jordan Penha from San Angelo. She enjoys coaching and sharing her knowledge with people. 
 


Eva Freeman

fitness director

Eva played volleyball at ASU on scholarship and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.  She married her husband, Mike Freeman 38 years ago in Snyder, Texas.  She owned and operated Power Shack Gym for 23 years. She also worked as the Fitness Director at Golds Gym and Anytime Fitness before taking the position at Bentwood.   Eva was a competitive bodybuilder from 1984 to 2001.  She has two children Chas and Colton. Chas is a trainer and lives in Temple Texas where his wife, Lucinda is completing her education as a Physical Therapist, at Mary Hardin Baylor.  Colton is living in Houston, Texas.  He is the offensive line graduate assist while pursuing his Masters degree at the University of Houston.  Both boys received athletic scholarship in football.  Chas has played for ASU and Colton has played for University of Houston.  Mike is a certified peace officer through the Tom Green County Sheriffs office and works as a Bailiff for Judge Ben Nolan.  I have certification from NASM, Les Mills, and Group Fitness Instructor.  Eva's hobbies include anything physical, most sports, DIY projects, and reading.

   

Elizabeth Alexander "Liz"

Fitness Trainer
Bridget was born and raised in the small town of Sweetwater Texas. At the age of 3, her mom enrolled her in gymnastics and that is where it all began. She continued gymnastics for the next 13 years along with softball, basketball, and volleyball. She was also a cheerleader for 4 years in Sweetwater and her first year in college. Bridget graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 2009 and moved to San Angelo the following year to be close to her mom. She spends her spare time training and competing in obstacle course race. She has competed in 7 Spartan Races and earned her Spartan Race Trifecta in 2016. She also placed 1st in the 2017 Spartan Race in Glen Rose, Texas. Bridget says her greatest gift is her daughter, Cheney, who is also a gymnast and has competed in several spartan races. Bridget is very passionate about fitness and is ready to challenge you, you're up for it! Come and see her in the Fitness Center.
  Stephanie Dobbs
PRIVATE EVENTS/BANQUETS COORDINATOR

Stephanie has been with Bentwood Country Club for 5 years working in different areas from Marketing to now Coordinating and Planning private events. Being a mother of 5 children with different interests, Stephanie is a detail oriented planner who works diligently and patiently with clients to make sure that each private event is successful. She also owned and managed a local cheer gym, Texas Cheer Obsession, for 7 years which she sold earlier this year. She loves animals and has provided a safe haven in her property for animals that comes her way, especially goats. 

  Jeramy Sevier
RESTAURANT MANAGER
Jeramy is born and raised in San Angelo Texas. He worked as a manager and corporate trainer for McAllister's Deli for 8 years where he traveled all over the US to open new locations. He loves to spend time with his wife, Yolanda and son, Gaven. He also enjoys watching football. Jeramy joined our team in 2019 as our Restaurant Manager and he will always greet you with a smile whenever you enter the restaurant. Come by the restaurant and say hello!
  David Wagner
CLUBHOUSE MANAGER
David is a native Texan who grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and moved to San Angelo shortly after graduating from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He worked in broadcasting for 20 plus years, before leaving in April of 2021, and joined the Bentwood Country Club Staff shortly after as one of the Restaurant Managers. David has been involved with many organizations here in the Concho Valley, serving on a number of boards including Leadership San Angelo Alumni Association, Salvation Army, Concho Christmas Celebration, the Junior League Advisory Board and is a volunteer committee member for the annual San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. He has also served on the Better Business Bureau Board, the YMCA board, and the American Heart Association board. He was elected to the National Radio Television Digital News Association Board of Directors in 2016 as the Region 6 Director over Oklahoma and Texas and served two terms. David has two sons Will and Wiley, he also loves sports of all kinds, his favorite color is blue, and his favorite food is chicken fried steak.  
 

Ali Delafuente 

 executive CHEF

Chef Ali started his career as a chef in 1999, he became a line cook and worked under Chef JR Contway at Bentwood Country Club, he then became the Sous Chef under Chef Mike O'Neil. After working at Bentwood Country Club he went and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, Texas. While in Austin he worked for Nordstrom Bistro and helped open stores in Austin and San Antonio, Texas. In 2006 he became the Sous Chef at Alto Lakes in Ruidoso, New Mexico. In 2008 he moved back to San Angelo and became the Sous Chef at the River Terrace, under chef Earl Mulley. He then moved to Arlington, Texas in 2010 and became the Sous Chef at the Sanford House Bed and Breakfast restaurant, under Chef Nelda Gallerger. In 2013 he became the Executive Chef at Big Spring country club. He opened his first restaurant in 2014 called the Windmill City Café and Bakery in Sterling City, Texas. He has had several other restaurant openings: The 158 Café in Robert Lee Texas, Windmill Grill in Bronte, Texas, and Riverview Restaurant in San Angelo where he was a part owner .

 

Chris Neighbors
SOUS CHEF

Chef Chris started working at his first country club when he was only 16 years old in Big Spring, Texas. He continued working for other country clubs until he ended up in our Bentwood Country Club as a kitchen help and worked his way up to a Sous Chef. He has been with Bentwood for 4 years. He is an avid Car Enthusiast and loves to watch the race. You will find him at the Fitness Center working out after a long days work in the kitchen.
